 Sold, thank you!
Featuring an unusual and well carved tiny netsuke of Kinko riding a carp, the subject taken from a legend in Japan. In the book, Legends of Japanese Art, there is an interesting paragraph written about this subject. This netsuke is very well carved, the feet and hand details being quite precise, plus every detail is excellent. The surface of the carp is textured and his eyes are inlaid with baylene. Signed on the underside. I have not tried to identify the signature. Kinko is leaning on a sake pot, this artists interpretation, perhaps, of Kinko enjoying himself traveling on the fish for thousands of years! 1 3/8" long x 3/4" wide, and 7/8" high. No damages, restorations, chips or cracks. Excellent condition. Beautifully carved. Return privilege providing item returned in sent condition within 3 days of having been received and in original packing material. Postage/insurance extra. Sales tax charged if sold in New York state unless valid tax number and resale certificate provided.
