Featuring an absolutely gorgeous museum quality antique Minton china compote with pierced rim, all hand painted with beautiful shading and detail in the lush grapes, stem and leaves and also, with some raised enamel. So artistic and just superb workmanship. This piece is not marked except for a hand painted red "k". But I guarantee it is Minton, as it is from a matching set with other pieces that were impressed with Minton, and English registry stamp. Dates to the third quarter of the 19th century. This compote and the rest of the set were originally sold at the Thomas Goode shop in London as one of the pieces from this set is stamped with their mark. Please google this company/store. They are very famous, selling to royalty and heads of state since 1827. Many of the pieces they sell are/were, their own designs and were specially made for them. Prince Charles had his own household china designed here, and is one of a kind, made to order just for him, just as this compote was a special order for someone very wealthy 150 years ago. This piece was very costly when it was made. If this compote were in the Thomas Goode shop today,(they sell antiques that they formerly produced/owned), it would run over $1000. The antiques road show had some similar plates on their show and estimated them at $1000-$1500. If one were repaired, the repair itself would cost over $150. This compote came out of a prominent local estate of historical significance. Measures a little over 9" in diameter x a little over 2 1/4" high. The piece is in excellent condition, but there is a professional repair on the base. Return privilege if not completely satisfied providing piece returned in sent condition within 3 days of receipt, and the way it was packed. Sales tax charged if sold in New York state unless sales tax form with valid sales tax number provided.
