Hand made from quality leather and decorated with delicate thread embroidery at the toe tips and last border, the traditional pair of womans leather shoes would have been worn by a woman of some means...judging by their overall condition, these shoes have been worn a few times.

This tea set was brought back by American missionary who was in China 1920-1948...She was repatriated to the US immediately after WW2 and returned by way of Japan. Considering condition of Japan when she was there, set was probably made sometime before WW2. The 4 piece set was probably used to accompany hina doll display The Habachi has separate lid, food bowl, cup/saucer, netsume has removable top, each piece hand turned wood...

This traditional saki (sake)container was probably brought over by a veteran from WWll. The sisal wrap covering protects the stoneware "keg". There is a filling port with cork plug on the top and a 2nd port for pouring low on one side. The sisal covering has painted kenji and graphics on one side...which is somewhat discolored from years of sitting on a shelf...approximately 8x8x8 inches...

Japanese Black box with bamboo gold leaf Makie decoration... Box measures 7.5 x 6.75 x 2.5 inches. Bottom of box has discoloration to lacquer and a slight separation of the boards....photo has been photoshopped to make condition defects clearly visible...I may have overdone it...

This hand carved wooden comb belonged to a Miao Chinese minority women with limited means. Comb would have been worn horizontally between the top of the woman's head and under the twisted bun of her hair. Comb is decorated with symbols which a burned into the wood. comb is 5 x 4 inches

This fan was made for export during the 1930's. Silk fabric with hand painted "city life" scene and support struts of black lacquer with ornate painted decoration.

A large carp dominated the painted scene on the front of this fan made with home made paper made and wood struts...Each end strut is pained with red lacquer mons. Fan is signed on front with makers mark...good condition...

The blade is left dull (never sharpened) because it was used in a ritual representing the flaying of flesh and not for the actual purpose.

Indigo Dye fabric, covered with intricate batik pattens. lower panel on back has rows of hand woven decorative tape... comfortable to wear or use as great wall decoration. 36 inches long x 21 inches across shoulders. This vest made by Chinese Miao ethnic minority....from region of Huang Ping. It is roughly 50 years old... The amount and skill of the hand stitching embroidery and applique animal characters is wonderful...Cotton fabric appears to be homespun...The Miao of the region grew and harvested their own cotton Great wall piece..and will fit an average size man...

Made by a women of the Miao minority often referred to as the "tiny Miao" ...not because of their stature but because they were recongnize for their "tiny" embroidery stitches... This jacket was worn for festivals ...and shows some use...wonderful display piece and also could be worn by a small person....

Meticulously embroidered panel for baby carrier that never got finished.. and was packed away to be finished later...probably by a loving grandmother, and then backed and border probably her daughter for sale. Possibly from Yueli are of Nandan county, this antique Chinese ethnic minority Miao top could have been worn for every day It has hand batiked front and back panels and the front apron has hand embroidery accents on the batiked section. Pic 1 shows the back with the "apron"extention which extends to the top of the knees... Pic 2 show the front which ends at the waist... Fits a small woman and I mean small or could be used as a striking wall piece...

This was the traditional jacket used by girls of the Yi Chinese ethnic Minority. Girls wore this style until they were married. This garment is small and was most likely worn by a child between 7-10 years old. Condition considered good...intricate batik work, original silver buttons,hand embroidered detailing around collar,front closure,sleeve and bottom borders... wonderful display item...
