This large superbly lacquered square box with wide feet, is decorated with a phoenix bird along with a smaller bird possibly a small bird of paradise, with a flowering shrub, along with butterflies and a floral and scrolled detail in each corner. The sides are decorated with four different floral designs. Inside is twelve small rectangular plates.

The Chinese finely carved rectangular box with a raised top panel with a landscape with a large tree and mountains, a Buddhist figure seated under the tree with an attendant standing nearby, repeating fret pattern surrounding the panels. The sides are carved with four rows of repeating Buddhist Swastikas. Condition: the top lid has two small chips, and the box has one little larger chip, the rim of the box has numerous chips.

Size: 2” high x 5-1/2” wide x 3-5/8

The small rectangular box is carved with a scrolled and floral motif on the lid surrounding an inset carving of a bone female goddess. The sides are with alternating linear squares. The interior and base are a black lacquer. Condition: signs of wear and three bottom corners with small chips. The inset carving is bone and indicates the porous grain of bone and rough surface, the color is more yellow and is not ivory.

Antique Chinese black lacquer wood tea caddy that is signed, in the form of a bucket with a removable handle and lid, the lid has a finely carved in low relief a temple lion with raised fur that is clutching with his front and back paws a scrolled ribbon with a jewel, with a sword in his mouth and his tail is fanned out. The front and back sides have carved panels of male figures seated near a desk with a bowl of fruit. Metal detail on the corners and in the middle as well as a band around the bottom. On the bases is an 8-character mark.

This Jar is so expressively painted, and is telling a story with these wonderful figures in a parade around the body. The figures are all well painted, and two male figures with raised legs carrying these colorful banners are leading the parade, the next two figures are carrying signs with calligraphy, my favorite figure wearing a long orange robe riding a pink and green temple lion, while the pair of figures in the back one is carrying a canopy and the other a vase. The wide border is with fruit, floral and butterflies design. Condition: a few chips of enamel are missing and two small chips on the border. Age: 1820-1850 - Size: 9-1/2” x 10” (24.13 x 25.4 cm) This bowl is unmarked which is an indication of its age. In the United States the McKinley Tariff Act was passed in 1890 and all Chinese Export porcelain had to be marked China until 1915 when it was marked made in China.
