Faience amulet of Egyptian air god Shu, wearing a striated kilt, kneeling on his right leg and holding a sun disk over his head, 1 inch high, Late Period, c. 664 – 525 B.C. From an old Belgian collection. Shu was the Egyptian God of Air. The name Shu means “He Who Rises Up”. 'Shu' was the root of words such as 'dry', 'empty', 'sunlight' and 'withered'. Shu is also known as the god of the atmosphere and of dry winds.
