This is a stunning early French Fashion with china shoulderhead and glass eyes, circa 1855 - 60. She is believed to be All Original in her Mode Enfantine costume including layers of unders, a great hat, and leather gaiters! She has a perfect glazed porcelain shoulderhead and even retains her original wig and cork pate. It just doesn't get any better than this! She is very likely from Blampoix, but I do not wish to take her apart to look for markings. Layaway is always an option. Please contact me to discuss terms. Here is her detailed description:
Shoulderhead: Her glazed porcelain shoulderhead is perfect with no cracks, chips, or hairlines. She has brown glass eyes and the eye rims are outlined in black. Her brows are fine and narrow, made up of numerous tiny strokes, and her lips are delicately outlined. She retains her original human hair wig which is still nailed to her cork pate. She is probably marked along the front edge of her shoulderplate, but since she has been undisturbed for 150 years, I see no reason to take her apart now – especially since markings would not affect her value. Factory Imperfections: A small brown mark in the porcelain underneath one ear. Signs of wear: None. She is really beyond stunning!
Body: She is on her original pink kid body with individual fingers and gussets at the hips and knees. I have not fully undressed her, but I did remove her bloomers to examine much of her body. There is a patch on the back seam of one thigh, and I see no other repairs. One ankle has a bend to it. There is no leaking and the body is firm.
Clothes: I believe she is All Original and her costume is detailed and fabulous with many pieces. Her dress is in a style called Mode Enfantine with a very full knee-length skirt. It is a red and gray plaid with black velvet trim. It looks like two pieces but they are sewn together. It closes in back with covered buttons (many missing) and loops. The sleeves are a pleated bell-shape with separate cotton and lace false sleeves underneath. The collar is also a separate piece. Underneath she wears a full set of unders including a chemise, a half-slip, bloomers, a nice corset that laces up the back. She has black leather slippers with heels and a fabulous pressed wool felt hat decorated with black lace and feathers. But I have saved the best for last – she wears leather gaiters that reach above her knees! They close up the side of the leg with loop closures and have tassels at the knee. The leather is dry and one has a split on the front seam, but they are still amazing!
