I love this amazing SFBJ 237 French character! In 1912, S.F.B.J. offered a special exhibition series of soldiers in ceremonial uniforms. This example is SFBJ 237, presented in his original military uniform and his original SFBJ box. He has perfect bisque and he is a blue ribbon winner. (Another example from this series, wearing the the same uniform, is pictured on page 579 of the French Doll Encyclopedia.) Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are the details:

Head: His bisque head is perfect with no cracks, chips or hairlines. He has sharp modeling of his character features, and his painting and coloring are excellent. He has spectacular “jewel eyes”, molded hair, and an open mouth with teeth. He is marked, SFBJ 237 Paris. Examination: minor speckling and a teensy rub.

Body: His original SFBJ body cannot be photographed because some of his clothing is sewn-on. I have examined it well. There is paint wear on one hand and the rest is fine original finish with almost no wear at all.

Clothes: He is wearing his fabulous original wool military uniform. It is highly detailed and appears to be complete, including his superb hat, sword, belt, medals and military decorations. The tall portions of his boots are very worn and/or partly replaced and his pants have some moth holes, but he makes the most spectacular presentation.

Box and Ribbon: His original box is blue cardboard. I have shown you a photo of all the writing on the box, as well as the round SFBJ sticker. The box shows overall age wear and the cover is missing. His blue ribbon is from the prestigious Doll Collectors of America Annual Meeting in 1996.
