This is an excellent example of a so-called French-type Papier Mache lady. She has glass eyes and an open mouth with teeth. Her shoulderhead has no repairs or repaint. Her French kid body is in superb condition. She is wearing a wonderful antique four-piece wool walking suit, and she retains her original wig. These shoulderheads were actually made in Germany, then sold to French doll manufacturers who placed them on French bodies, dressed them and finally marketed them as a French product. Layaway is always an option, but please contact me prior to purchase to discuss terms. Here are the details:
Head: Her Papier Mache shoulderhead is in very good condition with no repairs or repaint. Her head is excellent, while her shoulderplate has light crazing and a small chip on one shoulder. She has inset brown glass eyes and an open mouth with upper and lower teeth. She has a black painted pate with little brush strokes around the face. She retains her original human hair wig.
Body: Her French pink all-kid body is in superb condition. It has straight arms and legs with gussets at the hips. The stitching pattern is similar to Jumeau, with individually stitched fingers and toes, and a v-shape at the waist. There is no patching or leaking. You can see that she has been wearing these clothes for a very long time – the pink color on her arms below her sleeves has noticeably faded.
Clothe: She is wearing nice antique clothing, including a four-piece wool walking suit. Her suit has a form-fitted jacket with numerous faceted buttons in front and a pleated skirt. The bustle is attached with pins at the waist. There is also a matching shawl. All pieces are trimmed in matching lace and are entirely hand-stitched. Everything is in excellent aged condition. Underneath, she wears an antique camisole, antique half-slip and antique bloomers. She has black wool stockings and vintage blue leather side button boots with heels.
