A rare bamboo chado tea caddy for powdered green tea, the interior covered with black lacquer. The exterior carved with the four gentlemen of winter: plum, bamboo, chrysanthemum and orchid. A fine Japanese incense burner, made of wood with pierced gilt copper lid, the interior with copper lining. On a black lacquer ground slightly raised decoration showing a landscape with rockwork and trees in different gold lacquer techniques. A cigarette case made of iron, partially damascened in different golds and silver, inspired by the famous sculpture of the American artist James Earle Fraser (1876-1953) "End of the Trail", which he designed in the late 19th C.
