A small cylindrical container made of brass with a domed cover with close fitting. With engraved decoration in horizontal bands, the widest with four medallions each containing a figure at leisure. Its function is not obvious, maybe an ink pot (davat) or a container for tobacco or spices. From an old Swiss collection. Condition: good, few tiny dents. Dimension: 7.0 cm high, diameter: 2.9 cm, weight: 56 g.

A gauzy ivory white silk fabric brocaded with leaves in gold wrapped thread. Condition: fine. Dimension: 108 cm x 36 cm.

Two small dress fabric fragments with stripes. The first one made of silk satin woven with tiny flowers. The other one with five differently colored stripes brocaded with silver wrapped threads. A Qajar sherbet spoon carved from light, varnished wood, made in two parts with a long rhomboid handle joined to the boat-shaped bowl-section by a slot. Dimension: 27.8 cm long x 3.9 cm wide.

A silk brocade in gold thread with boteh in lozenge shaped lattice. Two interesting brown velvet panel fragments with botehs and flowers in silk embroidery and embellished with gilt and silvered sequins. Origin could also be Central Asia. A fragment of a large hanging, depicting a kneeling Persian nobleman betweeen two horsemen. Embroidered in chain stitch on a coarse weave. A wooden spoon for sherbet, soup or rice made in two parts. Carved from light wood, the handle with inscriptions in ink under a varnish. Condition: few traces of usage. Dimension: 27.6 cm long.

A small box made of wood or papier-maché with hinged lid. Painted decoration under a lacquered varnish, showing the rose and nightingale motif "gul-u-bulbul". Provenance: a gentleman's collection, Geneva - Switzerland. Condition: traces of usage, the varnish is very glossy, lid slightly bent (please look at the photos carefully, they make part of the condition report). Dimension: c. 11.7 cm x 4.4 cm x 2.5 cm.

Two different pipes, the bowls made of Tophane clay embellished with gilding or gilded metal rim. The stems ar made of wood ending in a horn mouthpiece. One with mark. Condition: one bowl was broken in two and the other one with two chips. Dimension: total length: 35 cm and 16 cm.

A book cover made for a Qur'an, the originating country being North African or in the Middle East. A coarse weave is embroidered with green in counted stitch and with metal wrapped thread. The inside with very soft white leather. Condition: little wear and leather with stains. Dimension opened: 16.6 cm x 23.2 cm.

A small pouch made of different Persian silk brocades "zar-baft" and egded with gold braids. Silk lining. Women's pouches in Qajar Persia were used for different purposes as storing kohl, veil, prayer stone, comb, quran etc. Please visit www.qajarwomen.org. Condition: traces of usage, slightly stained. Dimension c.: 14 x 12.5 cm.

The basic fabric is a linen weave with black stripes. The ends are embroidered with a striped camel carrying a coffin to Mecca, in polychrome threads and decorated with fold silvered metal.
