A quite large pith paper album of fine quality with ten gouache paintings, made in Canton for the export in the 19th century. Showing different scenes of a procession with musicians, court officials and ladies etc. Each is lightly mounted on paper and bordered with a blue silk ribbon. The covers are cloaked with red figured silk. Condition: paintings: good, considering the delicate nature of pith paper. Some with insignificant losses near the border, only one painting with losses of the painted area (see photo no. 6), few with small stains and one silk ribbon lost. Album cover: some wear, loose, fixed with tape. Dimension: each painting including silk border: 21.5 cm x 34.8 cm, album closed: 23.6 cm x 38.3 cm.
