Masahiko Ichino is one of the leading modern ceramic artists in Japan. Based in Tamba, one of the six ancient kilns of Japan, he has gained wide recognition at home and abroad for his creative masterpieces which unite traditional Tamba ware with modern aesthetics, carrying it further into the future.
This small vase demonstrates Ichino’s own akadobe glaze (a deep red glaze that was lost for centuries, and re-invented by a few modern Tamba artists, including Masahiko Ichino) and bamboo-inspired shape. A versatile vase which goes well with many types and colors of flowers.
