Seated Jizo Bosatsu, the hands pressed together in front of the chest in the gassho adoration mudra, figurally sculpted from a brown-hued sedimentary stone. Mid-Edo Period ca. 1700. Very minor old loss, most notably to the very tips of the upraised thumb and index finger of each hand as well as to the figure's upper left shoulder blade. Variegated lichen accumulation.

Height: 41 cm
Width: 37 cm
Depth: 35 cm

A sizable, elegantly sculpted Jizo stone with a lovely face and impressive lichen accumulation. Uncommon.
