Width: 26 cm
Depth: 13 cm

Beneath the figure appear two Japanese characters that translate as "No. 7," implying that this piece originally was placed among 32 similar depictions in a grouping of 33 Kannon Bosatsu stones. Buddhist thought maintains that Kannon Bosatsu has 33 manifestations, which belief is visually rendered in the stone medium in the form of 33 separately sculpted Kannon depictions. Groupings of 33 Kannon Bosatsu are extremely uncommon.

An elegantly sculpted, highly collectible stone.
