Shishi lion pair, one with mouth open ("ah") and the other with mouth shut ("un"), each sculpted from a single block of wood. Mid-Edo Period ca. 1700. Minor old wood loss and rubbing, with remnants of a white gesso-like foundation and traces of polychrome.
