Seated Dai-Nichi Buddha, the hands forming the chiken-in knowledge-fist mudra (also known as the six-elements mudra), sculpted figurally from a gray-brown igneous stone. Clearly dated on the back to the third year of the Anei Era (1774), mid-Edo Period. Excellent condition, with only very minor old loss. Light lichen accumulation.

An exceedingly uncommon depiction of a figurally sculpted Dai-Nichi Buddha clearly dated to the mid-Edo Period, with substantial size and in excellent condition. Highly collectible.
