Guest Book
Nyoirin Kannon Bosatsu in characteristic seated pose of royal ease, sculpted from a gray-hued igneous stone. Clearly dated on the backside to the second year of the Kanpo Era (1742), mid-Edo Period. A large natural fissure, as opposed to a crack or other damage, runs diagonally along a line from the head down through the right side of the figure's face and continues to the neckline. No repairs have been made. Excellent lichen accumulation, including large patches of a gray-white-hued variety.

Height: 47.5 cm
Width: 32.2 cm
Depth: 22.4 cm
Packaged weight: 37 kg

Nyoirin Kannon as serendipitous confluence of nature and art. A superlative stone.
