Back in the 1960s and 1970s, even casual jewelry was made proudly and well. This is a really good example: an early import from India made of thick, sturdy brass overlaid with slabs of thick, sturdy wood -- artfully carved and colored with wildlife stripes.
We hippies (yes, I was one) adored this sort of thing. Sadly, we weren't awfully good at taking care of our toys, or even keeping track of them, so a bracelet this good is a rare find today. From its superb condition and the original tag inside, we can tell that it probably came from old store stock, never worn. In storage, the metal managed to acquire a lovely soft age patina that I wouldn't dream of polishing off, but of course that's up to the new owner.
Width of the bracelet is 7/8" and its interior diameter is a roomy 2 5/8". If yo u're small, you may want to wear it on your upper arm -- a very sexy look! Or you could fit it to a small wrist by tying a scarf around it. (How cute would a jungle print be?)
