This dress is, without a doubt, the most difficult-to-photograph item I've ever run across. I'll keep trying for better but, in the meantime, please follow the description closely. The dress is gorgeously detailed, but so dark that very little reveals itself to the camera.
Starting from the top, there's a V neck framed by artful pleats. Below this, a central seam is shirred to below waist level. Somehow this manages to end in an inverted pleat at the front of the skirt -- and yet the rest of the skirt is seamed onto the bodice in a lovely curving shape that reaches up to the base of the shirring like twin petals. Even better, this dropped waist is traced out with tiny, tiny dressmaker cording. For further detail, even the 3/4 length sleeves finish with fine tucks that angle them slightly inward. More tucks -- good long ones -- shape the back bodice, where the dropped waist lies straight across with its fine cording.
All of this is very easy to see in person. You also can't miss the grace of this dress in motion. I'm no specialist in fabrics, but it feels and behaves like crepe. Evidently the dress was never quite completed, since there's a spot for a short zipper on the right side, but no zipper, and the bottom of the skirt has binding but no hem. Held to the light, it shows none of the teensy holes that would indicate prior hemming. At the moment, it reaches almost to my ankles, so it should be no prob to achieve the length right for you.
With the right jewelry (and perhaps I can help), this would be easily the most elegant dress in the room, day or night. Its floaty shape allows it to fit many sizes and the fabric's weight will subtly bring out your curves. The bust will fit up to 38 inches, waist 30 inches and hip well past 40 inches, since the skirt is full.
