This classic designer coat from Paul Costelloe's Dressage line was my final shopping mistake before moving back from England. I adore it, but finally accepted that I'll never wear it, because brown makes me look like I died three weeks ago. My goof can be your great good fortune, if brown tones suit your coloring and you enjoy a fabulous bargain. I'm offering this for less than a third of what I paid in 1995 at Jane (a fashion shop across from the clock tower in Newmarket.)
Sizing is technically US 6 (Brit 10), but really this would fit US sizes 2-8, with a little adjustment of sleeve length -- or roll the sleeves to show off their pretty lining. Overall length from neck to hem is 34 inches, so it's 3/4 to 7/8 length, depending on your height. The fabric is luscious: a nubby tweed that's mostly lightweight wool and feels rather linen-like. It's the perfect weight for autumn, spring and winter's warmer days. Details include bone buttons, four patch pockets (chest and hip level) and scrumptious linings (solid inside the coat and striped inside the sleeves). If you've worn Costelloe, I don't have to tell you how comfortable his cut always is.
