Cup and saucer with decoration of pine trees and flowers in Imari colours and gilt. Japan, Arita c 1920, with mark for Aoki Brothers / Aoki Kyodai-Shokai. Diameter of saucer "5 ¾ / 14.3 cm, height of cup "1 ¾ / 4.5 cm. Condition: rim of cup with small glaze bubble.

A pair of Japanese porcelain footed sake cups, the interiors with minuscule calligraphy of Waka poems, the exteriors with the “hundred poets” motif in Satsuma style against a background of gilt and red. Probably early 20th century, Kutani marks to base. Height "2/ 5.5 cm. Condition: fine.

A small Satsuma cup and saucer, probably Taisho period, c 1920. Well composed and painted decoration of a flower shrub in colours and gilt, on a finely crackle-glazed ground in pearly off-white. Painted seal mark to cup and saucer. Diameter of saucer "4¼/ 11,5 cm, height of cup "2/ 5 cm. Note: there are two more saucers of the same kind available. Condition: fine, except for some stains on the saucer as seen in photos.

A Fukagawa Koransha Arita bottle vase, the glaze a very pale pink with decoration of grey leaves and three red cherries. Orchid (Koransha) mark in underglaze blue, early 20th century. Height "7/ 18 cm. Condition: slight wear to the gilt rim of the neck.

A beautiful pair of Japanese bowls by Koransha, “the company of the scented orchid”, c 1920 or earlier. Decoration in under-glaze blue of leaves, and berries and smaller leaves in over-glaze red and turquoise. Height "2¼/ 6 cm, diameter "4/ 10,5 cm. Condition: restored chip to foot-rim of one bowl, as seen on photos.

Two porcelain plates, both superbly painted in the Satsuma style with brocaded borders and landscape scenes of women and children in luxurious clothing, celebrating iris and chrysanthemum respectively. Kutani, late Meiji, c 1900. Signed Kutani Eiraku (?) So. Diameter "7¼ / 18,3 cm. Condition: fine.

Small and elegant vase from around 1900, silver thread cloisonne enamel depicting flowers and birds in the style of Hayashi Kodenji. Auspicious Kanji mark to base: great happiness (?). Height "6/ 15.3 cm. Condition: enamel loss on the shoulder covered with black paint (cf. pics) and an associated scratch mark.

Three thin and lovely cups and saucers with underglaze blue reserves of landscapes, birds and couples against an iron-red and gilt background. All parts marked Mikawachi where most Hirado porcelain of the period was made. An extra saucer to go with the rest, without cost. Height of cups "2¼/ 5,8 cm, diameter of saucers "4/ 10 cm. Condition: fine.

A pair of sake cups / bowls, thinly potted Japanese porcelain in white and gold with decoration of Ho-o birds and chrysanthemum, both of which symbolize happiness and prosperity. Unsigned, Meiji. An identical pair was in the collection of businessman Gustaf Wallenberg who also served as Sweden’s envoyé /ambassador to Tokyo and Beijing in 1907 - 1918.These sake bowls seem to have been gifts from the Japanese emperor to foreign dignitaries. Beautiful blue and white dish or bowl with mount Fuji. Meiji, c 1900. Diameter " 9¼/ 23,5 cm. Condition: glaze cracks at one o'clock (cf. pics)

A pair of coral ground tea bowls, c 1900. Enamelled decoration in blue and green with black transfer printed contours. Since the use of printed decorations started earlier in Japan (in the 19th century) than in China it is probable that these bowls are Japanese. One bowl with illegible export (?) mark in red. A small eggshell-thin dish with a decoration of two birds and two fan-shaped panels - one with a landscape, the other with a poem (?), all in a variety of colours, 19th c. Wing of one bird has been painted as to conceal a glaze bubble, an indication of age. Overglaze red marks: Hirado san, Mikawachi. Diameter "5 ½/ 13 cm. Condition: fine.

Urn-shaped earthenware vase with decoration of a lady and a boy dancing. Subtle crackle-glaze in shades of peach and pink, with gilt and white moriage (slip) articulations on an olive-green background. Unmarked, but with Japanese handwriting on sticker. Meiji period (1868-1912). There is a drilled hole to the base, for a lamp wire. Height "9½/ 25 cm. Condition: fine. Please note that the white patches near the foot rim on the photos are just reflexions.

Four flat dishes with spur marks and so probably Japanese, Meiji c 1900, all with a matted powder blue glaze, also covering the back and the foot rim. Diameter "8/ 20 cm. Condition: minimal glaze frits to the rim of two plates, as seen on photos.

An octagonal beaker and saucer plate, thinly potted and decorated in under glaze blue with "lange Lijzen" and flower pots in Kangxi style. Late Edo, c 1850. Marks: Zoshuntei, Sampo sei (cf. mark 96 in Lawrence, Hirado: Prince of porcelains). Height of beaker "2¾/ 7 cm and diameter "3½/ 9 cm. Diameter of saucer "5¼/ 13,5 cm. Condition: fine.

Elegantly decorated vase with a geometric design of 24 facets. Meiji period, late 19th century. Sparsely painted with airy flower sprigs, leaving large parts of the cream-coloured crackle-glazed surface undecorated. The mouth rim with the mon (emblem) of the Itagaki (?) family. Impressed three character mark to the base and painted signature in red. Height "6¼ / 16 cm. Condition: fine.

Japanese sake cup, well painted with Hyakunin or one hundred poets motif, late Edo or early Meiji. Red overglaze mark of Kutani, and possibly the name of the artist. Height "2¼/ 5,5 cm. Condition: fine.

Cup and saucer with Kutani aka-e (red) decoration of musing philosophers or poets, the back of the saucer with orchids. Late Edo or Meiji, c 1900. Signed Kutani. Diameter or saucer "4 ¾ / 12 cm, height of cup "2¼/ 5,8 cm. Condition: wear to the decoration, esp. to the saucer (cf. pics).
