A pair of sake cups / bowls, thinly potted Japanese porcelain in white and gold with decoration of Ho-o birds and chrysanthemum, both of which symbolize happiness and prosperity. Unsigned, Meiji. An identical pair was in the collection of businessman Gustaf Wallenberg who also served as Sweden’s envoyé /ambassador to Tokyo and Beijing in 1907 - 1918.These sake bowls seem to have been gifts from the Japanese emperor to foreign dignitaries. An exceptionally small Japanese tea or wine bowl and saucer, Edo period c 1710. Blood and milk iron red and gilt decoration of butterflies, flowers and swirls. Height of cup 1 ¼ " / 3.2 cm Diameter 2 ¼ "/ 5.5 cm, of saucer 3 ½ "/ 8.8 cm. Condition: repair to the saucer, the cup with a nick to the inner side of the foot rim (c.f. pics).

An unusually small creamer, Chinese export porcelain from the Qianlong period, c 1770. Decoration in the European taste of scattered flowers, a thin lattice border and garlands. Height "3 1/3/ 8.5 cm. Condition: a professional restoration is visible near the beak where the decoration is restored with exactly the same enamels as the original (cf. pics).

A Persian small brass or bronze box and lid from the Qajar period, 19th century. Of square shape with indented corners and exquisitely engraved with flowers and birds. A small circular reserve indicates which side of box and lid respectively are meant to fit into each other. Width "2 1/2 / 6.5 cm, height "1 2/3/ 4.2 cm. Condition: fine.

Sparrow beak milk jug, Chinese export porcelain from late Kangxi or Yongzheng, early 18th century. Imari decoration: underglaze blue and overglaze red plus some gilt. The blue is clobbered - the way it is sometimes seen on the blue and white ginger jars with the classic cracked ice decoration - and the way the circular chrysanthemum flowers have been cut in halves shows Japanese influence. Height "4 ¾ / 12.2 cm. Condition: a hairline to the base of the handle.

Coffee cup, Chinese export porcelain from the Qianong period, c 1770. European style decoration of a ribbon in overglaze blue and gilt, and scattered flowers in Famille rose enamels. Gilt borders and leaf handle. Height "2 ¼ / 6 cm. Condition: rim frits to the foot rim (cf. pics).

Grisaille / encre de Chine and iron red decorated semi-eggshell saucer, depicting a Mandarin family scene of a father wishing his wife and son a nice walk in the garden, she holding a fishing rod and the little boy with a bird in his hand, all surrounded by a border of flowers and conchs in European Rococo style. China, early Qianlong, c 1740. Diameter "4 ¾ / 12.2 cm. Condition: re-glued, some wear to the decoration and rim frits (cf. pics).

Interesting Arita Imari bowl, late Edo with scalloped rim and panels with reserves of flowers and figural scenes of an elderly teacher (?) surrounded by pupils, the reserves contoured in raised overglaze black. Brocade or diaper patterns in green, red, blue and gilt surrounding a stylized turtle in underglaze blue. The exterior shows three Buddhist symbols repeated three times in underglaze blue, red enamels and gilt. Bull’s eye base and a green-glazed Uzu-Fuku mark...

Small and elegant vase from around 1900, silver thread cloisonne enamel depicting flowers and birds in the style of Hayashi Kodenji. Auspicious Kanji mark to base: great happiness (?). Height "6/ 15.3 cm. Condition: enamel loss on the shoulder covered with black paint (cf. pics) and an associated scratch mark.

Unusual small Faux bois tea or wine cup, Yongzheng period, reddish brown with peony and antiquities in Famille rose enamels and gilt, a collection number in red to the base. In the Yongzheng and early Qianlong period the chief manager in Jing De Zhen - the center of Chinese porcelain production - was the creative Tang Ying who made the imitation of various materials like wood, bamboo and stone on porcelain en vogue. Red copper and silver bowl, Tibetan and probably used for buttered tea. Silver lining and foot rim, the latter with a border of stylized leaves, embossed and chased, probably early 20th century. Tibetan silver normally lacks hallmarks and this bowl tested for a silver content of 500/1000. Diameter "3 3/4 / 9.7 cm, height "2/ 5 cm. Condition: fine.

Burl wood and silver bowl, used for Tsampa, the traditional Tibetan porridge, and for buttered tea. The silver lining plain, the exterior with chased and delicately engraved decoration of flowers. Tibetan silver normally lacks hallmarks and this bowl tested for a silver content of 925 /1000. Probably antique, late 19th or early 20th century. Diameter "4 ½ / 11 cm, height "2 ¼ / 5.7 cm. Condition: fine.

Two pairs of nephrite /spinach jade footed cups or goblets, one pair smaller than the other. Chinese, early 20th century. The cups of bell-shape, the stems conical, the only decoration being a line between stem and cup, creating the impression of a seam or joint. Height: "3 ¼ and “4 / 8 and 10 cm respectively. Condition: fine, with the exception of a minimal nick to the foot rim of one of the smaller goblets that can be felt but not seen, could be polished away.

Coral red tea bowl and saucer, the bowl with rocky landscapes in blue, green and black in reserves, the saucer with the same decoration depicted on a paper scroll. The black lines are hand painted like the rest, so probably Chinese, Jiaqing period. The lotus scroll work on the tea bowl with traces of silver, now oxidized. The tea bowl with a kiln mark, and a simplified six character mark to the saucer, probably for Jiaqing. Diameter of cup "3 ½ / 9 cm and of saucer "5 ¾ / 14.5 cm...

A pair of blue and white Hirado oil jars or bottles of squat shape, Meiji period, c 1900. Molded decoration of Paulownia leaves in reserves and an under-glaze blue diaper (grid) pattern. One with a cork stopper crowned by a small silver bird. Height: "2 ¼ /6 cm, diameter: "3 ¾ / 9 cm. Condition: small glaze crack near the mouth to one jar, otherwise fine.

A pair of blue and white scallop shell shaped dishes for butter, sweetmeat or the likes with under-glaze blue decoration of peony within a Yongzheng style lingzhi border. Chinese export porcelain, Qianlong around 1750 and probably made for the English market. Width "5 ¼ / 13 cm. Condition: fine, except for a very small glaze flake to the border of each dish. A small Chinese teapot, pumpkin shaped and ribbed. Decoration of garden rocks and flowers in underglaze blue, overglaze red and gilt. Late Kangxi / early 18th century.
