A pair of sterling silver gilt and cloisonné enamel spoons. One engraved “Mardi Gras”, the other “Dallas Tex”. Both by Gorham, with marks for the 1890’s. One stamped 360, the other 362 (model numbers?). On the back of one spoon engraved Esther and 1892. Length 4 ¾" / 12 cm, with a difference of 2 mm. Condition: fine.

Three Dutch little sterling silver spoons, mid 19th century, all in Baroque style, all with pseudo 17th or 18th century hallmarks. Spoon ends with cast figures of saints or prophets. Many silversmiths in Holland went on working in the old style of the Dutch Golden Age, and this kind of spoon was very much liked during the first half of the 19th century. Three more spoons without ends to go with the first three (cf. the last photo). Length "4 – 4½/ 10,5 – 11 cm. Condition: fine.

A French carving set; knife and fork with silver handles, beautifully engraved and crafted. Made in Paris in the 1880’s, in the classicist Louis XVI style so much “en vogue” at the time. The fork made of ivory or bone, the sharp steel blade of the knife marked Paris. Minerva head hall mark and maker’s mark of a bird, possibly, and E. Length of knife "13¼/ 33,5 cm. Condition: the little knob of the fork seems to be replaced, otherwise fine.

A very pretty ladies pocket watch, made in Switzerland, antique. The face is heart shaped, decorated in silver and gilt, the case all over finely engraved with floral ornaments. On the back are traces of enamel. The movement marked SWISSMADE. Case and cuvette both numbered 32086 over 5 and stamped 925, with London import marks for 1908, the cuvette also GS, initials that are part of the assay mark. Diameter "1¼/ 3,3 cm. Condition: at present it does not run.

Four English silver spoons, the shafts with little coffee beans made of dark brown wood. The “bean end” design appeared already in the late 1800’s, in the Arts and Crafts period. There are coffee pots and other coffee utensils related to Christopher Dresser with coffee beans on (like the pots in pic 1), but it has not yet been proved that Dresser was the first to use the coffee bean as a design motif.
