Two heavy slabs of glass forming two very large petals, or a clam, are fused together in this bowl, the interior of which is iridescent. The colours, red and blue, were used specifically by Giorgio Ferro for his daring designs, cf. his Anse volante vases. Lidded beaker vase or jar by Alexandre Kostanda (1921 – 2007). Stoneware, the exterior thinly glazed in grey with a discreet “lava” effect of burst bubbles. Smoothly glazed interior. Kostanda was one of the most renowned ceramists in Vallauris, the preferred place to be for art potters in post-war France, including Picasso who used the studio of the Madoura family there.
