Ivo De Santis, Gli Etruschi, 1960s, Italy: Royal Guardsman. De Santis’s massive, chubby and humorous clay figurines were unmarked, but they are nevertheless easy to recognize. Gli Etruschi was the name of his studio in Florence. Most part of De Santis’s production seems to have been exported to the US. The little soldier, however, was found in Sweden. Height "6 / 15 cm. Made by Bernhard Hertz, well-known jewelry designer working in Copenhagen and in Stockholm at the turn of the century 1900. Chinese seal paste box showing New Year’s celebrations in the time of emperor Tongzhi, c 1870. The lid with an elderly official or teacher, his traditional hat in hand, surrounded by his pupils, the sides of lid and box showing two rows of small boys carrying signboards, red lanterns and the dragon on long sticks. The decorations of box and lid are made to fit perfectly together. Diameter "3 ¾ / 9.5 and height "2 ¼/ 6 cm. Condition: the base with a hairline (cf. pics).

Kutani yaki cricket cage of square shape, finely painted in aka-e, over-glaze red in the Iidaya detailed style: two sides with calligraphy, probably poems, signed in red and gilt, the other two with poets /scholars. The iron red decoration is called Iidaya and was made around 1860, during the Edo period. No lid, width "2 ½/ 6.5 cm, height "2 ½ / 5.5 cm. Condition: chips to two of the four feet, still stands steadily.

A very pretty ladies pocket watch, made in Switzerland, antique. The face is heart shaped, decorated in silver and gilt, the case all over finely engraved with floral ornaments. On the back are traces of enamel. The movement marked SWISSMADE. Case and cuvette both numbered 32086 over 5 and stamped 925, with London import marks for 1908, the cuvette also GS, initials that are part of the assay mark. Diameter "1¼/ 3,3 cm.
