The is an attractive large Japanese Cloisonne dragon vase. The vase stands 12 1/4 inches tall. We recognize some of the decorations and believe Gondo is the artist that made this piece. The vase is in excellent condition with two minor flaws. It has an excess glob of solder on the inner edge of the bottom rim and there is a tight, very hard to see line that is mixed in with the designs at the bottom rim (see last image).

This a beautiful rare pair Meiji era Japanese cloisonne vases. We believe they are from the Namikawa Sosuke workshop at a time just before he started signing his pieces. Though unsigned, to the trained eye it can clearly be seen that these vases share very similar distinct characteristics as some of the Sosuke's signed pieces. They share similar enamel work, the random pitting, a glossy finish, the extra weight and an artistic style similar to Sosuke's work. We have owned and sold a number o...

This is a very attractive Cloisonne vase signed by one of the masters, Kumeno. The fluted form adds to the beauty of the piece. This stout vase stands 9 1/2 inches tall. Displays great but has a slight line at the base of one of the folded in areas. This is a minor flaw that could have always been there.

his is a wonderful Japanese Cloisonne lidded bowl, done in the Plique A Jour style. Lidded bowls like this are very difficult to come across. The piece is fairly large in size measuring 4 7/8" across and is 3 1/2" tall. An array of colorful and bright flowers and leaves decorate this exquisite bowl both top and bottom. The enamel is very thick and the decorations appear to have layered over top of the translucent inner layer. . It stands on 3 enameled and silver feet. Tarnished outside rims are ...

This extremely rare vase is one of several from a great collection of Gonda pieces. At one time Gonda worked for the Ando factory. It is likely the only one like it in the world. We have never seen another like it anywhere and the world traveling owner of the extensive 40 year collection it came from, hasn't either. This special piece took great skill to create and in person it is even more attractive than most Namikawa Sosuke pieces. Look at the variation or transition of color tones, especia...

This is a fine early Japanese Cloisonne enamel jar. It is signed with the two-flags mark under the lid. This factory produced high quality cloisonne for a short time and not much is known about the artists that were working for this company. Cloisonne from this company is many times unique and this piece is no different. The hardware used on the lid is gold or gilded and the underside was finished off with dozens of silver foil flowers covered with a translucent enamel. The jar measures 4 3/8 in...

This is a beautiful authentic Japanese Meiji era bronze. The Chinese have produced fakes of this bronze elephant form, but to the trained eye, the detail, workmanship and beauty of the fakes is far inferior and easy to spot. This bronze measures 16 1/2 inches wide and stands 9 inches tall. It probably weighs 25 lbs. This grand piece is signed and is in excellent condition.

This is a fine 12 inch Japanese Cloisonne vase done with the very popular draping wisteria pattern. The enamel and wire silver wire work in the wisteria decorations are of a high standard. From the scroll work it appears to be an early Ando, Ito or Kinuken piece. The form is unusual and the piece is better than the images show. Condition is excellent.

This is a beautiful rare Japanese Cloisonne tray. If it were not signed, many would attribute this fine piece to the workshop of Namikawa Sosuke. The workmanship on this piece exceeds that of many other cloisonne trays to be seen with roosters or chickens. The tray measure just under 11 by 11 inches. Condition is very good but there is a slight indent on the rim with a minor bit of crazing at this spot on the reverse side. To view see the last 2 images.

This is a very fine example of Japanese Meiji Era Satsuma. It was created and signed by the Meizan workshop. It is thought that many of the artists that worked there went on to work for Yabu Meizan. The early rich gold is used. Scenes of butterflies, children, and schools of fish, all circle around the vase. At the top an assortment of medallions, that each encase a different scene, telling a story of some kind. Rich, very thick enamels used throughout. A fine gold wash of beads peek in and abou...

This is a very fine Japanese wireless Cloisonne vase. It is not signed but the silver rim has the impressed Jun-jin mark. The enamel work is outstanding. Look close at the delicate tonal variations, it is as fine of work as several Namikawa Sosuke pieces we have seen with a Mt Fuji and clouds pattern. But we believe this vase was made at the Ando Factory. It stands 6 inches tall and the condition is excellent.
