This is an extremely rare and beautiful Japanese cloisonne vase. It is done in a wireless enamel technique by the great Meiji artist, Gonda. Some or the best pieces ever made with the Ando mark, were actually made by Gonda. It is a large heavy piece measuring 12 1/4 inches tall and 7 1/2 inches wide. As the images show......It is a truly a museum quality treasure.

This is a beautiful rare Japanese Cloisonne tray. If it were not signed, many would attribute this fine piece to the workshop of Namikawa Sosuke. The workmanship on this piece exceeds that of many other cloisonne trays to be seen with roosters or chickens. The tray measure just under 11 by 11 inches. Condition is very good but there is a slight indent on the rim with a minor bit of crazing at this spot on the reverse side. To view see the last 2 images.

This is a very fine example of Japanese Meiji Era Satsuma. It was created and signed by the Meizan workshop. It is thought that many of the artists that worked there went on to work for Yabu Meizan. The early rich gold is used. Scenes of butterflies, children, and schools of fish, all circle around the vase. At the top an assortment of medallions, that each encase a different scene, telling a story of some kind. Rich, very thick enamels used throughout. A fine gold wash of beads peek in and abou...

This is a very fine Japanese wireless Cloisonne vase. It is not signed but the silver rim has the impressed Jun-jin mark. The enamel work is outstanding. Look close at the delicate tonal variations, it is as fine of work as several Namikawa Sosuke pieces we have seen with a Mt Fuji and clouds pattern. But we believe this vase was made at the Ando Factory. It stands 6 inches tall and the condition is excellent.

This is a rare and attractive example of Japanese Golden Age Cloisonne. The colors are bright and the design is very desirable. It is a unique piece that was probably made in the mid 1890's. The tray is heavy and measures 12 3/4 inches by 8 inches. All in all condition is very good and it displays wonderfully. If you look close, there is a short craze and slight bend in the outer rim (see image). There is some roughness on the bottom is from the firing process.

This is a large Meiji period Japanese Satsuma Koro. It stands an impressive 13 inches tall and is just about 11 inches wide. From the images it is hard to comprehend the actual size. It is very thickly potted and heavy at 10 lbs. The overall condition of this piece is excellent. At one time the lid was finely restored and this flaw in not easy to detect. The foo dog lid and decorated legs have the finest detailing. Due to its size, this koro makes grand display piece and the new owner should b...

This is an attractive, early production, cloisonne tray from Namikawa Sosuke. It was designed after a woodblock print. The tray looks great but it has been refurbished a bit. There are cracks in the corners that have been sealed over to prevent future oxidation and discoloration. These cracks are not easy to see, especially under display conditions. The tray is modestly priced and measures 10 3/4 inches by 7 inches.

This is a rare Yabu Meizan Censer. It is not decorated with gold details and painting but is still an attractive item with its rich turquoise colored glaze. The first and second images show how it appears under normal lighting. It probably does not have the original cover but this silver one is more functional than the ivory covers we have seen. The silver lids fit perfect.

This is a rare and large, top quality Satsuma Jar by Yabu Meizan. The silver koro lid is not original to the piece. The gold detail and painting are beautiful. It is stoutly potted and measures 9 inches tall by 8 1/2 inches wide. This piece is not signed but at on time it was. The original signature has been covered up by an excellent restoration to a drill hole. The price reflects these flaws and even so, it still is a fabulous Meiji era display piece.

The is a small stoutly made cloisonne teapot. The piece shows better and the enamels are more glossy than what is see here in the close-up enlarged images. The condition is good but there is some enamel damage on the lid that can be seen in the images and the bronze rim of the pot is flattened a bit. The piece is 3 1/2 inches tall and about 4 inches across at the spout. Like many of Namikawa Yasuyuki pieces. the ground color is black.
