This is a very lovely Japanese Satsuma cup & saucer. It is signed and impressed with the Kinkozan mark. The inner rim has a band of rich gold geometric scroll. Inside the saucer and decorating the cup is an array of rich enameled and colorful flower heads, such as Iris, Wisteria, Peony, and Mums. There are scrolling vines and leaves as well. Tiny gold beading on many of the florals and a gold wash peeks in an out of these. The very center of the plate features tiny butterflies on a tiny gold beaded wash. The saucer measures 5" across. The gold on both pieces are in near perfect condition. Even the gold on the cup handle is mint. On the inside bottom edge of the cup is a firing line and a little staining of the porcelain(See image). A beautiful and rare set.
