This is an outstanding pair of Japanese Cloisonne vases from the master Namikawa Sosuke. Though unsigned, it can clearly be seen that the distinctive enamel work and style is indeed his work. These are transitional pieces made before the Sosuke workshop began signing their pieces. In 2005 one unsigned pair of 22 inch Namikawa Sosuke vases from the Sir Thomas Fermor-Hesketh estate, sold for a 102,000 GBP. I have included several images from signed Sosuke pieces that illustrate why the work on these vases have the same unique work. I have owned and sold a number of vases from Sosuke and know these vases also match the enamel characteristics and weight of a Sosuke piece. The vases measure 7" tall. Except for a slight blemish on one, they are in excellent condition.
