This is a very fine and special cloisonne vase. The shape and style a of workmanship are very unique. The silver wire work is unique to Murase. Examples of work from both of these artists are extremely limited and are some of the rarest to be found from the Meiji Era. Only a handful of their works are known to exist. We had one about 8 years ago. The rims are silver. The vase is very stout and heavy. It is only 4 1/2 inches tall and at first glance looks somewhat like a Hayashi Kodenji vase. The images are blown up and the vase when in hand has finer detail than shown. There are several very hard to see short lines in the enamel. The engraved mark is the smallest and most delicate we have come across on a piece of cloisonne. It reads Murase Sei Zo.
