This is an exceptional Japanese Satsuma cabinet Vase. The intense work is reminiscent to that of Yabu Meizan, Meizan or even Seikozan. The decorations are very rich and intricate . The vase features three bands work. One of children, a band with monkeys and then people surround the vase. It is divided by another band of rich enameled brocade and geometric designs. Further up the vase is a unique gilded ground with scrolling vines with small more well done children mixed in an about. The top shoulder area has an elegant ribbon or folded scroll with many intricate patterns. Formal foliate scroll very intricate, at the base and top rim area. Much use of gold on this unique and very superbly done piece. The vase measures 3 5/8" tall. Condition is excellent. It is signed with an impressed mark on the underside that looks like an early Hozan mark or Meizan.
