Japanese wooden cigar box, decorated with Rinpa style design of brass by openwork carving.
Signed “Tatsuo Saku (Tatsuo made)” on the side.
Okabe Tatsuo (1902 - 1964 metal artist) has be accepted Teiten (Imperial Academy art exhibition) many times and received grand prize in 1933. He was appointed a juror for the Bunten exhibition (the annual art exhibition sponsored by the Ministry of Education) and Nitten (the Japan Fine Arts Exhibition).

Japanese seihakuji (blues white porcelain) plate by Kato Tsubusa, was born in Tajimi Gifu prefecture in 1962.

Measurements: 25” (63.5 cm)
It is in good condition except for a few kamakizu (a scar or crack that happens in a kiln) in the bottom.
Comes with tomobako (original wooden box).

Scroll painting a squirrel in the Chinese juniper is painted with ink and color on silk.
Signed artist name "Renzan Gantoku” and sealed.
Kishi Renzan (1804 - 1859) was born in Kyoto and studied under Ganku.
His artistic talent led him to succeed to Kishi school as adopted son of Ganku.
Ganku (1749 - 1838) is the founder of Kishi school and particularly known for his picture of tiger.

Japanese Buddhist Zen scroll painting Enso with calligraphy, “Muichimotsu”, by Kobayashi Taigen (b 1938, Zen monk). Ink on paper.
Taigen is the head priest of the Obai-in sub-temple of Daitokuji.
The Enso (Zen circle) is a symbol of complete spiritual enlightenment and true mind.
Muichimotsu means nothing, aloof from both dimensions of existence and nothing.
