Japanese Ema of a Shinto priest and a horse is painted with ink and pigments no wooden board.
Ema is a votive picture tablet which Japanese people offer to a shrine or temple when they pray for something of after our prayers are answered. The tablet sometimes gears a picture of a horse from the fact that people once dedicated a living horse.
This picture includes elements of the Rinpa school.
The date, Meiji 29 year (1896), is written on the back side.
