A wonderful 1830's ladies' reticule with a little bit of everything! The purse is fashioned of cream satin and decorated with chain stitched floral embroidery, moss green and dusky pink velvet bands , gold metallic lace, spangles, and beads. The best part is a flip down bottom which hides a mirror within. Green silk lining. There is shattering to the cream silk, especially on the sides. 7” by 7”.

A pair of 18th century embroidered garters, similar in style to the Jerusalem garters worn by 17th century pilgrims. Linen tape embroidered with colored silk thread, with crocheted ends and knotted fringes. The shorter garter measures 18 inches and features the motto “memento vivere”, or “remember that you will live.” The longer garter, measuring 23 inches, reads “nul bien sans peine”, or “no success without trouble”, or in current parlance, “no pain without gain!” Excell...

An 18th century green velvet gaming purse embroidered in raised silver metallic thread. Figures include a red Maltese cross; two clasped hands within a snake eating its tail; a wreath; a lion; and various initials. The bottom consists of metallic leaves. Bag is lacking its lining and lacking draw-string; it has several darned repairs below the opening; embroidery to the lion is worn. Measures 7” by 8 1/2”.

Large and wonderful watercolor on ivory mourning miniature of shepherdess with wreath and lamb on obverse and plaited hair with seed pearl initials on the reverse. Large 1 7/8 by 1 3/8 size. Watercolor in perfect condition;some wear to gold fill frame and seed pearl initials.

A delightful, late 18th century English School watercolor portrait of a cherub playing a tambourine. Set in a malachite veneered frame. The cherub is beautifully painted; the frame is cracked and repaired. Measures 1 ½” by 1 ¼”; sight size 1 1/16” by ¾”.

Fantastic 18th century silver reticule – this little bag has a bit of everything! The body features silver sequins applied to silver thread netting over white silk. The knitted scalloped header is comprised of silver and gold metallic thread. The drawstring is twisted metallic thread with terminal balls made of sequins. Metallic thread tassel. A super purse in good condition some losses to sequins and unraveling to drawstring. Measures 4 1/2” by 2 3/4”.

Dramatic late 18th century fob seal by Josiah Wedgwood, after a Tassie design, of Achilles holding Nike, in Wedgwood's black basalt. Very good condition. Measures 1 1/8” tall; face measures 1 3/16” by 1”.

1920’s Whiting and Davis Dresden mesh purse in a kaleidoscope of primary colors. Great gold tone deco frame and link chain; yellow silk lining with pocket. Good condition; mesh has some wear in spots. Measures 7” by 5”.

A 1940’s gold and horn set of earrings, cufflinks and brooch, these pieces were souvenirs of a socialite’s African safari. The horn appears to be impala; the brooch and earrings are set in 9 carat gold; the cufflinks in 18 carat. Very good condition. The brooch measures 2 1/2”; the screwback earrings measure 1 3/4”; the cufflinks measure 1 1/8”.

19th century Austro Hungarian pendant necklace in silver set with pearls and pink stones of various colors. The central panel features a large stone flanked on either side by a cherub, suspending a pink teardrop. Reverse is nicely engraved. Good condition; pitting on some pearls (they may be glass); stones exhibit wear; there is a chip to the teardrop. Pendant measures 3 1/4”; chain measures 20”.

Gorgeous Austro-Hungarian gilt silver, enamel and paste pendant, circa 1880. A white and gold enamel flower with emerald paste center is surrounded by a circle of emerald paste and milky glass stones which suspends an emerald drop. Pretty engraved reverse. Measures 1 1/4”.

19th century beaded coin purse, crocheted in crimson silk with cut steel beads and metallic thread border. Fantastic cut steel frame and steel chain. Very good condition; some rust to beads. Measures 3 1/8” by 2 7/8”.

I believe this beautiful beaded piece may be a small table decoration, or napkin. It is a circular panel featuring a vivid wreath of flowers, including a red and a pink rose, bordered by four full layers of different colored fringes. Excellent condition. Measures 6 1/4”.

This little make-do beadwork piece is a mystery to me in two ways – in function and design. My guess is that it’s a pen rest and that the pen nib was intended to sit in the fluted white fixture at one end. The design on one side is a spaniel, but the design looks extremely odd – perhaps a bagpipe? At any rate, it’s a great little piece in good condition – small losses to spaniel, edges and corners. Measures 2 3/8” by 2”.

Pretty burl snuff box commemorating the accession of Louis Phillipe to the French throne, which occurred in 1830. Center medallion features a profile of the king and the words: "L. Phillipe Roi Des (?) Francais/Dehais". Box is lined in tortoise shell or horn. Very good condition; central medallion is somewhat dented. Measures 1 3/4".

Unusual children’s shoes, dating from the first half of the 19th century, probably Turkish. Shoes are leather with gilt metal embroidery, silk tassels, and linen twine. Soles are stamped. Very good condition; they show some wear, especially to soles. Measure 5 7/8”.

Unusual 19th century Continental gutta percha cameo, depicting a woman in the gabled head dress common in Medieval or Renaissance Europe. The cameo is in deep relief and suspends a jet Maltese cross flanked by two gold balls. Rich deep brown color. Old c clasp and watch hook on the reverse. Very good condition. Cameo measures 1 1/2”.

Well-painted 19th century Continental portrait miniature of a young gentleman in watercolor on ivory. The sitter has shoulder-length black hair and wear a dark green coat. Original gilt metal mount in turned wood frame. There’s some dust and possibly some mold under the glass; ivory has shrunk and shifted so that there’s a slight gap to the right edge, where there’s also a spot of paint loss. Measures 4” by 3 1/2”; sight size is 2 1/4” by 1 7/8”.
