Interesting Victorian beaded and punchwork covered book. The front cover features blue and cut steel beads in a floral motif; the reverse is worked with initials; even the spine is decorated. Both sides are framed with layered punchwork. Inside covers with flaps are made of marbled paper. Graph paper pages, all blank with the exception of one penciled phrase in Spanish: “the child is much worse”. Locking clasp, original unused pencil. Loss to beadwork and wear to paper and cloth edging, but an unusual object. Measures 5 1/8” by 3 3/8”.
