Stuart crystal jewelry came into fashion after the 1649 execution of King Charles (Stuart) I; his followers began to wear objects made of faceted, pink-foiled crystal containing his initials in gold, laid on a bed of hair or fabric. People continued to wear such jewelry, but adapted for personal use, into the 18th century. The crystal is so finely faceted it’s impossible to get a picture that’s not distorted. Gold tests strong at 14k; classic crimped rub over setting. Good co0ndition; tiny chip at 6 o’clock; some wear to rub over. Measures 1 1/8” (not including bail) by 3/4”.
