A Very Rare and Fine Korean Old Silla Pottery Musical Libation Cup-6th C.: Korea, Three King Domes Periods (Silla period), 5th-6thcentury, This is a so called a “jingle-bell libation musical cup-vessel. It probably could have been used for a ritual ceremony in Silla or Kaya periods, rare Jingle cup with an incised pierced high ring foot, cut and opened high footed stem like a pedestal bowl with natural ash and lead glaze on the body, the tall ribbed flaring sides supported on a perforated base with a single ball clay pellets inside to produce sound. Pottery vessels with fanciful shapes like this attest to the skill and confidence of Silla potters, omplex and thin-walled forms such as this were borrowed from metal work and were difficult to render in clay. It has a minor chip to the rim, otherwise very good condition. Measurements: 15.5cm h. (6 1/8”) Reference: A very identical libation cup see, Korean Art, The Brooklyn Museum, by Robert J, Moes, 1987, #6
