Extremely Rare Shape of Korean Punchong Jar Inlaid with Decoration-15th C.:
Korea, Joseon dynasty, late 14th to early 15th century
Of a globular shaped body applied with a pale celadon glaze overall and black and whie slip inlaid design consists of two lotus plant medallions encircling the body and plantain trees on the back ground filled with a stamped Chrysanthemum design, and lotus petals inlaid bands on the shoulder and bottom, the base glazed but washed out. set on a raised foot and recessed ring foot. It’s in fine condition without any artificial damages at all but it has some celadon glaze oxidized and firing defects. It measures 8” d. x 7.75” h. (20.5cm d. x19.5cm h.).
