A Very Rare/Fine Korean Mother of Pearl/Turtoise Shell Inlaid Official Uniform Box: Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century It is rectangular, with rounded corners and with deep lower compartment and shallow cover, inlaid overall in mother of pearl and tortoise shell with dragons chasing the flaming pearl amongst clouds, the spines of dragons outlines in inlaid twisted wire and the pieces of mother of pearl and tortoise shell large, the ground brownish-black lacqer, interior lined with blue paper. It’s in excellent condition without any noticeable damages. Measurements: 26.25” x 14.5” x 9.75” (66.7cm x 36.8cm x 24.8cm).
