A Very Rare Korean Heavy Wood-Root Carved Seated Tiger/Painted in Polychrome Pigments-19th C./ Korea, Joseon dynasty, 19th century. A well portioned and carved Korean folk art wood seated tiger is on behind a big rock painted multiple polychrome pigments around tiger and rocks, his furious face including ears, eyes and mouth painted with highlights in polychrome pigments, and its body details painted in black on yellow body as a Siberian Tiger (Korean Tiger) often seen in Korean traditional folk Tiger paintings, it’s not big sized seated tiger sculpture in its measurements, but it can feel that when this tiger sculpture seeing that is in very professional carving and also is in very Korean folk art sculpture. It’s in very fine condition with bright colors and without any damages. It measures 34.3cm h x 27cm w. x 17cm d.
