While engrossed in his work, he discovered a love for Korean ceramics and the Korean culture that defined the rest of his life. With technical precision he visited all of the kilns, burial sites, museums and collectors that he could find in Korea. Dr. Kalbak went on to form an encyclopedic collection of Korean ceramics. He was awarded medals from the Korean government as well as from his own country, Denmark. Some of the most noteworthy pieces of Dr. Kalbak's collection are to be found in the National Museums in Copenhagen and Stockholm.
