A Rare/Fine Pierced, Inscribed and Dated Brush Pot:
Korea, Choson period, 19th Century,
The cylindrical form pierced with a trellis design and carved in relief with a tasseled
rope pattern, the rim with a matching rope design, covered with a thick blue-tinged
white glaze, the base inscription partially obscures by sand, with two panels carved
in relief with cyclical date and name characters. This brush pot was dedicated to the dedicateeï¿½s
name inscribed with year of the birth (Gap-O Year, 1834,1894,) on the sides, too. It has an incised ï¿½xï¿½ mark on the interior bottom. This brush pot is extremely rare with for whom named, his birth year and when this pot made. It is in fine condition with a short hair line crack on the rim. It measures 4ï¿½ h. x 3 3/4ï¿½ d.
