Hanten worn at the festival of the shrine in Iwate-cho, Iwate prefecture in Tohoku. It is made of thick cotton and has katazome (stencil-resist-dye) Kaen-hoju (flaming jewel) within kanji letters "Gongen" which mean "A god which appears in a temporary figure". It has a dyer's name in Morioka. The bright blue cloth inside looks synthetic. All hand-sewn and in excellent condition. 20th century. 130cm x 70cm

Korean wrapping cloth, chogappo which is made of recycled figured silk fragments which are from 19th or early 20th century. All hand sewn. "Pojagi" is a general name for wrapping cloth and "chogappo" is one kind of pojagi which is patchwork with silk as well as asa ( reference source: "Korean Embroidery and Wrapping Cloths from the Choson Dynasty" published by Japan Art & Culture Association in 1995 ). In good condition but one belt is replaced and has some stains and minor color bleeding parts....

A pair of "Ashimoto andon (foot lantern) made of cedar board, bamboo and washi (Japanese hand-made paper). The paper is replaced from shoji-gami (white paper for paper screen) to recycled washi which was a record book of a merchant in late Edo period.
