Hanten, called "suzu-kake" worn by a Shugen-sha or Yamabushi who practiced Shugendo. Shugendo is the Japanese unique religion combining Buddhism, Shintoism, and worship of nature (mountains). Kasuri child's kimono, probably remade from woman's kimono. It is hand-woven of asa (hemp) whose wefts as well as warps are hand-plied. It has auspicious kasuri pattern such as turtle, pinre tree, fan etc. It was made in Ohmi in Shiga Pref. near Kyoto. A pair of Musha-ningyo, samurai dolls which are displayed on the Boy's Festival on May 5th. The left is higher rankig samurai and the right is the subordinate samurai.
