Uchikui or uchukui which are the Okinawan dialects meaning wrapping cloth. It used to have been not only for wrapping but also for spreading, covering and wearing in old days. The bingata dyeing tecnique is either tsutsugaki (free-hand drawing with paste-resist, or katazome (stencil resist-dyeing). This one is bingata-zome with tsutsugaki. Woman's katsugi (head veil) made of very thin silk gauze with beautiful katazome (stencil-dyeing) whose pattern is traditional "Matsukawa-bishi" with "Yatsu-fuji" round crest.
