Futonji with kasuri pattern which are: bamboo, pine tree, sparrow etc. motifs. It is made of hand-spun cotton and dyed with vegetable indigo. Probably made in Kurume. It is located in Fukuoka Pref. in Kyushu and has been one of the main product places of indigo dyed cotton kasuri since late Edo period (early 19th century). In excellent condition. Han-gappa (or dochu-gi) made of kudzu fiber for wefts and cotton for warps, all vegetable indigo dyed. The collar is made of imported wool. The fasteners made of spiral cord show it was made in Tenpo in late Edo period (1831~1845) according to the "Kinsei Fuzoku-shi" written by Kitagawa Morisada beginning from 1837 to 1867. It was worn till early 20th century (Quin Dynasty) as an underwear of silk garments, especially in the southern China or neighboring countries. Hanten worn at the festival of the shrine in Iwate-cho, Iwate prefecture in Tohoku. It is made of thick cotton and has katazome (stencil-resist-dye) Kaen-hoju (flaming jewel) within kanji letters "Gongen" which mean "A god which appears in a temporary figure". Korean wrapping cloth, chogappo which is made of recycled figured silk fragments which are from 19th or early 20th century. All hand sewn. "Pojagi" is a general name for wrapping cloth and "chogappo" is one kind of pojagi which is patchwork with silk as well as asa ( reference source: "Korean Embroidery and Wrapping Cloths from the Choson Dynasty" published by Japan Art & Culture Association in 1995 ). In good condition but one belt is replaced and has some stains and minor color bleeding parts....

A pair of "Ashimoto andon (foot lantern) made of cedar board, bamboo and washi (Japanese hand-made paper). The paper is replaced from shoji-gami (white paper for paper screen) to recycled washi which was a record book of a merchant in late Edo period.
