Dochu-gi (coat) made of kudzu-fu (kudzu is "devil's tongue in English), which is handwoven of kudzu fibers for wefts and cotton threads for warps. Kudzu-fu was mostly produced in Kakegawa in Shizuoka prefecture in late Edo period. Dochu-gi is a coat for outdoor or travel. It has a black wool collar and buttons made of silk cords in almost perfect shape which are usually damaged. Fireman's hood made of deer skin with check patterns which are dyed with the technique called "fusube-gawa". The deer skin is smoked with burning rice straws and gets brown color. Cotton hanten worn at the festival in Sakata city in Yamagata Pref. It has 6 "tomoe-mon", triskelions in the back as well as in the front. It is made of hand-spun cotton and has beautiful lining with katazome (stencil-dyeing) which is also hand-spun cotton. Heavily used and has a reinforcement patch on the right shoulder for carrying a portable shrine (mikoshi). Also it has several sparkled stains in the lower back.
