Echigo Katakai shibori cotton cloth which is traditional tie-dye, one kind of Nui-shibori, made in Ojiya in Niigata Pref. Dyed with vegetable indigo. It has rather thick texture. Old Kumejima tsumugi (pongee silk) kimono from Kumejima, one of the Okinawa Islands. The features of Kumejima tsumugi are that vegetable and mud dye from the island, and also hand-woven. It is said that it has been woven from late 15th century. This kimono has thinly padded cotton so that it is possibly from colder region in mainland Japan.
