This is a man's juban ( under kimono ) which is made of silk crepe. The scenery of steep Mt. Hakone and travelers are depicted with katazome ( stencil-resist-dyeing ) and the motif seems to be taken from famous Ando Hiroshige's ukiyo-e ( wood block print ), titled "Tokaido 53 post stations". Early Showa period ( 1920s~1940s ). In good condition except for several stains ( 2cm x 2cm ~ 0.5cm x 0.5cm ).

This is a dochu-gi ( coat ) made of kudzu-fu ( gross cloth ) which is hand woven of kudzu fibers for wefts and cotton threads for warps. Kudzu-fu was mostly produced in Kakegawa in Shizuoka prefecture in late Edo. Dochu-gi is a coat for outdoor or travel and kudzu-fu one was worn in summer.
