Cotton kimono worn by a Shugen-sha or Yamabushi who practiced Shugendo. Shugendo is the Japanese unique religion combining Buddhism, Shintoism, and worship of nature (mountains). kayaku-ire (flask, gunpowder case) made of wood with rare and beautiful urushi which was made in Tsugaru in Aomori prefecture. It is Tsugaru-nuri and a half is imitating "kaba-zaiku" which is handcraft of cherry bark and the other is "kara-nuri" which has tens of layers of urushi and it sometimes takes more than 6 months to finish. In good condition but the lid is lost and urushi came off parts in the bottom. 19th century. D:15.5cm x 4cm

Silk gauze obi (sash) cloth with shibori (tie-dye) pattern. It is vegetable dye with "shikon (root of purple grass)" that had been producd in Aomori and Akita prefecture till Edo period, however it was disappeared in Meiji.
