Cotton Kurume kasuri futonji with a ship motif. Kurume in Fukuoka Pref. in Kyushu has been one of the main product places of indigo dyed cotton kasuri since late Edo period (early 19th century). It is made of hand-spun cotton that means probably it was made before Meiji 15 (1882) and natural indigo dyed. Cotton shibori (tie-dye) cloth for one kimono. It is rare as it is in the original paper wrapping when it was sold. It is written "Arimatsu Shibori" and produced by Owari Arimatsu "Takeda Kahei" which was established in Keicho 13 in Edo (1608) and the company's name changed to "Takeda Kahei Shoten" in Meiji 5 (1873). Yuzenzome figured sik girl's kimono. It has hand drawn Yuzen-zome cranes, bamboos, plum flowers, pine trees which are all auspicious motifs. It has se-mamori (charm) which is made of silk threads in the back. A set of four fans (uchiwa) made of bamboo and washi (Japanese hand-made paper). Each has hand-painted pictures and signs such as three kabuki "kumadori" which is special makeup of the kabuki player and Otahuku. All have the same written seal marks, however the name of the artist is not clear. Two are painted with kakishibu (persimmon tannin) 20th century. In excellent condition. W:30.5cm H:35.5cm
